Buyers often treat a certificate folder as a single yes-or-no signal: thick folder, safe supplier. In practice each document covers a different object — a management system, a product standard, or a one-off inspection — and several are declarations rather than independent verdicts. ISO 9001:2015 certifies that a manufacturer runs a documented quality management system: process control, traceability, corrective action and internal audit. It is issued by an accredited certification body, not by ISO itself.

DIN 4102-1 classifies building materials by fire behaviour. B1 (schwerentflammbar) means the material is flame retardant: it resists ignition and limits flame spread under the test conditions. It is the rating widely quoted for PVC tent fabric.
Two things to keep in mind: the rating applies to the tested fabric assembly, not the whole structure, and European practice increasingly references EN 13501-1 (Euroclass) alongside the older DIN system. Ask which one your supplier tested to, and on which fabric weight.
SGS and TÜV (TÜV Rheinland, TÜV SÜD and others) are independent testing, inspection and certification organisations that issue test reports and inspection records against a named standard.
The distinction that matters: a test report describes the samples submitted on a given date, while a certification usually implies ongoing surveillance. Both are useful; only one is continuous. Check the report date, the sample description, and whether the certificate holder name matches the entity on your contract.
